Mike Kohlgraf has provided the following news from SongPlanet - an Indie music event will be taking place in the New Year:
SongPlanet Saves the Planet ... a little bit at a time. On January 4, 2008, we'll be presenting an all ages Indie Music Showcase in Loveland, Colorado, to benefit the conservation organization Idea Wild.
DJ Zjhok has pulled out all the stops and has lined up four great SongPlanet Artists--The Moondogs, Prymal Rhythm, Pat Carr, and Michael Stone. Wally VanSickle, founder of Idea Wild will provide presentations on their projects in between.
And here's more great news! The artists will get paid - unlike a lot of showcases where the artists are expected to pay! SongPlanet not only wants to get Indie artists heard, we also want to see them rewarded for their efforts. A portion of the event proceeds will go to Idea Wild projects to conserve bio-diversity across the Planet.
If you are in the Colorado area, get the details from our gig calendar and come out to this event. Watch for more information in upcoming newsletters.
Michel Griffin would like to tell you:
The news here is that I'm hard at work on a new video, and also a new CD. My last CD, 'Russian Dolls' has been made available for download on Soundclick at $7.99, but will be available at only $5 for download from http://www.MichelGriffin.com for just one more month. After that, sadly, I'm going to have to hike the price to nearer Soundclick levels (though you can pay as much as $9.99 on iTunes, I believe!) For those that want to view the Russian Dolls video, it's still listed somewhere in the top 40 on http://www.neilyoung.com/lwwtoday/lwwvideospage.html
And finally, to make it easy for people to test-drive the "Russian Dolls' CD, there's a station dedicated to playing it on Soundclick at
You can catch Michel's video on his SoundClick site, a powerful message about the situation that is unfolding in Iraq.
Andrew Roussak has news of a new band project called Dorian Opera that formed in May 2007. All full-time professional musicians, this project is aimed at enabling the band members to write/perform their own music instead of playing in cover bands or doing studio work. The band have already composed the tracks for a forthcoming album (April 2008) and have uploaded a number to their MySpace page. There is exemplary musicianship on display here and also much stronger vocal harmonies that is often the norm in contemporary art-rock music.
Dennis Paul's news is:
I'd like to inform the world of my newest CD release, September 9th, 2007. The web-site www.dennispaul.netwill be updated as of October 8th, 2007. Hope you can pop by and take a look around. Take care and have a great week.
Dennis's site gives details of his four CD albums and links into the Apple iTunes store. Amongst his influences, he lists Frank Zappa and Pink Floyd so prog rockers should check it out.
Peter Simmons comments:
I produce a range of different types of music under the name Jazzjet but it's often difficult to differentiate your music to appeal to a variety of audiences, particularly on internet sites like Soundclick. Probably having the word 'jazz' in your name doesn't exactly help! So, to get round this problem I've set up as a new artist - Silent Way - to promote music outside the jazz/funk norm. It's early days yet I intend to publish music that is nearer to electronica and downtempo under this name. You can check this on: http://www.soundclick.com/silentway. Jazzjet's music will be featured on Solar Radio ( Sky Digital Channel 0129 or http://www.solarradio.com ) from 11 November onwards on a new show, hosted by Phil Driver, called 'Soul Unsigned'. The show focuses on artists and bands that either have no formal recording contract or are signed to a very small independent record label. The show airs from 1400 to 1600 hrs.
At the time of writing, Peter had uploaded one interesting Electronic track to this page - keep your eye out for more uploads in the near future.
Barrenelly (aka Heather Wells) wants to tell you of her radio show at Future Music, which has "a feast of Norwich music" that you can stream download for free at:
This is a tribute to local artists after a local radio station lost its equipment and suffered substantial losses. Don't be put off by the bare page that appears - the audiostream contains some excellent rock music from rock bands in this part of the United Kingdom. Greg Schmitt wants to say:
My CD 'The Year in Pictures' is complete. A pre-release song 'Castles' is available at SoundClick ($0.99 download). It was mixed by Bob St John and is attracting attention from record labels.
I've had a listen and there is some seriously good musicianship evident. The low-key introduction gradually builds into a magnificent rock number with excellent rhythm and syncopation throughout. Excellent harmonic progressions, clean bass and guitar lines, strong vocals and intellgent dynamics are all features of this sample track.
New Horizons Music (yes, that's us) want to tell you:
The Noble Pauper's Grave is now available on CD. This version has a further 6 tracks containing a narrative and link music between the main album tracks. This new art-rock album is ideal for choreographers and dance groups looking for challenging new music for strongly themed dance shows.
